Note about our membership from our Chair, Dr. Sally Romano:
On Tuesday January 16, 2024, Middlebury Democrats nominated an exceptional list of party-endorsed candidates to serve as members of the next Middlebury Democratic Town Committee.
The group has many fresh faces, but is not lacking in experience. Among the list, four have previously served as DTC members, some in leadership positions. Three of the nominees have run for or held public office-including selectman, chairman of the board of finance, and board of education representative. Many others have served on appointed town boards and commissions.
It is the remarkable energy and the breath of personal and work experience that makes this group truly outstanding. They work in finance, engineering, construction, psychology, education, and medicine, to name just a few. Some are starting their careers, others are retired.
Many are small business owners. Seven are doctors. They know how to work, and they know how to work with others. They aren't afraid of change. They aren't afraid to disagree. They believe in respect, inclusivity, diversity, and transparency. Many have been active in recent conversations about development projects in town, and they know what it feels like to try to be heard from the outside. But make no mistake about it, these are no one-trick ponies. They are serious, dedicated, invested, and energized. They are ready to work, ready to learn, and focused on bringing a more representative, more open, more welcoming democratic party back to Middlebury. They are the real deal. I'm proud to be one of them.
